Park's all-time leading scorer with nearly 2,500 points and the school's second-leading rebounder, Walter Bethea was a two-time NAIA men's basketball All-American for the Pirates, named American Midwest Conference Player of the Year twice and AMC Freshman of the Year in 1995-96. Walter was a four-time All-Conference honoree in the AMC, leading the Pirates to the 1998 NAIA National Semifinals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
