The first golf coach to lead Park to the NAIA postseason, Dale Lauritzen took the Pirates to the national championship twice as a team and once more with an individual competitor, in 1976, 1980 and 1982. Lauritzen took the men’s golf program from club status to two-time district champions between 1973 and 1989, and his team won the first-ever Park Invitational in the 1970s. He ended his coaching career as two-time NAIA District 16 Coach of the Year, serving as golf coach alongside his full-time job on campus at then-Park College.
