The Park University men's golf program was in Salina, Kan. on Tuesday for the Carmichael Cup hosted by Bethany College at Salina Municipal Golf Course.

The Pirates only had one round to work with on Tuesday, as Monday was washed due to heavy rain in the area.

Park made the most of the 18-hole tournament and took 1st place out out of 11 teams. Park tied the program record for low 18-hole round at 278. The last time this happened was at the 2023 Heart Conference Championship, where the Pirates took the conference title and an NAIA National Championship qualification.

The 278 at the Carmichael Cup was two strokes under par as a team and beat out the rest of the competition by five strokes.

In his second appearance for the Pirates,
Payne Wood shot a 67, or three under par. to tie for 1st after 18 holes. Wood, then was victorious in the playoffs and he earned his first individual tournament win in his collegiate career.
Santonsson, a 2025 Heart All-Conference member, was one stroke back of Wood at 68 for a two under par showing for T3rd.Â
Ryan Holtz was just outside of the top 10 with 13th place and and an excellent round of 71, just one stroke over par.
Noah Pirtle was in that mix as well and was only a stroke behind Holtz for a 72 for T18th.Â
Zach Cato was Park's fifth member in the lineup and finished in 34th with a score of 75.Â
Gabe Grier and
Colin Kaberline played as individuals in the event, placing T36th and T48th, respectively. Grier shot a 76 and Kaberline scored a 79.
It's already a great start for the Pirates this season and the varsity will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 22-23 in Council Bluffs, Iowa for the Iowa Western Community College event, the Bent Tree Intercollegiate Showcase.Â
