The Park University men's golf program was the runner-up at the Evangel Men's Spring Invitational at Rivercut GCS in Springfield, Mo. The Pirates were in first through day one, but the host Evangel swooped in for the 1st place finish in round three.
Park shot a 922 total with rounds of 293, 309, and 320. Evangel came in round three with a 296, which was enough to overtake Park.
Noah Pirtle was four under-par after the first round, which included an eagle on hole 18. He took T4th in the competiion with a 226 with rounds of 68, 74, and 84.
Tyler Deterding and
Kaden Tyner were close to one another at the finish, as Deterding was in 12th with a 232 and Tyner took T13th with a 233. Deterding put up his best scores in rounds one and three with a 75, 80, and 77 for the tournament. Tyner was hot out of the gate with a 72, even with par, but then settled for an 80 and 81 in rounds two and three.
Gabe Grier and
Payne Wood both were T24th with a 240. Grier had his best round in round two with a 75, and his rounds one and three were 81 and 84. Then Wood had rounds of 78, 84, and 78.
The Pirates will be back in action on Monday in Enid, Okla. for the Oakwood Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, March 23 and 24.Â
