The Park University men's golf program was in Prosper, Texas on Monday and Tuesday, February 23 and 24 at Gentle Creek Golf Course.
The Pirates resumed the spring portion of their schedule after the intermission and came in 9th in their first spring tournament. Park was 9th after the first two rounds and held their position into the final day.Â
The Pirates shot 305 and 303 in the first two rounds, but then took a 324 on the final day for a 932. Each team's highest score was on day two across the board.
For the Pirates,
Noah Pirtle was six strokes over-par for the tournament, including a 70 in round one and a 72 in round two, and finished with a 80 in round three for T12th.
Gabe Grier was up next with a 44th finish with a 236. He improved in his next two rounds and moved up five spots on the field. In round one, he shot 81, followed by 76 and 79 the next two.
Both
Payne Wood and
Tyler Deterding were T49th. Deterding came out with two rounds of 76, but he would have a harder time in round three with an 86 for a 238 overall. Wood, also with a 238, turned in scores that were fairly consistent at 78, 79, and 81.Â
Pedro Treceno and Samuel Ramirez were also close to one another. Treceno closed out the Texas Invite in 59th on a 246. He shot an 83 and 79, and then moved back to 84 in round three. Ramirez was within three strokes at 249 for 60th. He turned in his card of 84, 83, and 82.
Park will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday in Nixa, Mo. for the Evangel Spring Invitational at Rivercut Golf Course.
