The Park men's golf program opened up the 2025–26 season on Wednesday and Thursday in Marion, Iowa for the Mustang Fall Championship hosted by Mount Mercy University at Hunters Ridge GCS.
The Pirates took 3rd place overall out of 7 teams. They improved on their day one score of 300 with a 290 on day two. Their score of 590 was six strokes back from 2nd place Mount Mercy and Kirkwood Community College took the tournament win with a 578, only two strokes over par.
Zach Cato, in his Park debut, impressed with scores of 74 and 70, even to par, for a tournament runner-up performance. Cato shot two under in the second round to move up four spots on the leaderboard with a 144.
Both
Charlie Santonsson and
Gabe Grier were T8th at the close of the tournament. Santonsson scored a 73 on day one and the 75 on day two for a 148, while the junior Grier had those same round scores but flipped.
Another new face to the Pirates this season,
Payne Wood started his season with a 150 with a 78 in round one and then was even in round two for the 72 for T13th.
The senior
Colin Pasitney scored a 78 and 80 for a 152 and was T27th.
Park had three individuals competing.
Noah Pirtle was T15th with rounds of 77 and 74 for a 151. One stroke behind his teammate was
Carson Coleman with a 153 for 21st on a 77 and 76.
Teegan Lancaster came in at 164 with scores of 83 and 81 for 33rd.
Park rests over Labor Day Weekend and will be back for the 2025 Carmichael Cup at Salina Municipal GC on Monday and Tuesday, September 8-9.
