The Park University outdoor track & field program has done tremendously in Marion, Ind. for the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
On day one, Park represented in four events including, women's 4x100m relay, women's 200m, men's 4x800m relay, and the women's long jump.
The Pirates conquered on the national stage, highlighted by Park's first individual national champion since 2012 when Park Wall of Honor recipient Daniel Tubei won the men's marathon.
Rosjai Curtis opened up her first NAIA Outdoor National Championship with a 5.84m mark in the long jump for the national title. Second and third place were right in the mix at 5.83m and 5.82m.
Curtis is now a three-time NAIA All-American in her freshman indoor and outdoor seasons, and she still will be competing in three more events this week, 100m, triple jump, and 4x100m relay.
Curtis is the eighth NAIA National Champion in Park track & field history. There are now six individual titles in outdoor and two individual championships for indoor. The last female outdoor national champion was another Wall of Honor recipient and marathon winner, Mikki Massey in 2001. Curtis is the first long jump national champion in school history.
It also was a record breaking day for the women's 4x100m relay team with a time of 46.86, cutting down time from their previous all-time record of 46.93 from the Heart Championships. They took 9
th place, but their time qualified them to the finals on Friday at 12:40pm (CT). Curtis and
Alexandria Sherman are both freshman on the 4x100m relay team, while
Mya Charles and
Hannah Mand complete the group of four.
Charles was also in action in the 200m event. Hailing from Grenada, Charles took 19
th with a 25.02 in her first appearance at outdoor nationals.
Alexander Caines,
Ethan Willmann,
Palmer O'Connor, and
Chase Housh were in action for the Pirates in the 4x800m relay as well and posted a time of 7:50.71 for 15
th place. This group have all been to indoor nationals before, but Caines is the only one to represent in his second outdoor national championship.
Caines will also represent in the 800m on day two.
