The Park University outdoor track & field program has three individuals and two relay teams representing in the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Marion, Ind. on May 21-23 on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
There are some familiar and new faces, representing Park in both the women's and men's championships next week.
Alexander Caines has qualified individually in the 800m and the men's 4x800m relay. The rest of the 4x800m relay team is made up of
Chase Housh,
Ethan Willmann,
Palmer O'Connor, and Ian Walsh.
Two individuals emerged out of the Heart of America Athletic Championships within the women's program, including
Rosjai Curtis and
Mya Charles. They both qualified with Park's women's 4x100m relay team as well and will be joined by
Hannah Mand,
Alexandria Sherman, and
Adison Hayden.
As far as experience goes, Caines represented the Pirates in 2024 in his first outdoor championship in the 800m, placing 25
th with a time of 1:54.46. This year, the 2025 Heart Champion ran a 1:51.92, his personal best and currently holds the 30
th best time in the NAIA this season. This is also the 2
nd fastest time in Park's outdoor history.
The men's 4x800m relay team clocked the fastest time since at least 2006 in Park's outdoor history with a 7:37.28 at the Drake Relays earlier this season and they currently have the 15
th fastest time in the NAIA National Championship field. The 4x800m relay team has made indoor national championship appearances two of the last three years and took 12
th at the 2025 indoor championship with a 7:41.44. Besides Caines, this will be the first appearances at outdoor nationals for this group.
Rosjai Curtis was the Heart Triple Jump Conference Champion this spring in her freshman season and was an NAIA All-American in both triple jump and long jump from 2025 indoor nationals. She holds the Park outdoor long jump record at 6.07m from the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational. Curtis has qualified in the triple jump, long jump, 100m, and 4x100m dash.
Curtis has the 4
th best long jump mark of 6.07m in the nation, and the No. 3 mark in the triple jump at 12.20m. Her time of 11.83 at the Heart Championship was good enough for 2
nd place and is the No. 23 best time in the NAIA this spring.
Also representing Park in the 100m is
Mya Charles. She placed 3
rd at the Heart Championships wih a time of 11.84 and is No. 25 in the nation. She then placed 2
nd and qualified for nationals in the 200m at the conference championship as well with a 24.52. Her 200m time is tied for No. 3 at Park in program history and is No. 25 in the nation this year.
The women's 4x100m relay team is the fastest Park relay team in program history at 46.93, which they accomplished at the Heart Championships for 2
nd place. As of now, Mand, Charles, Curtis, and Sherman are ranked No. 16 in the NAIA. This group will all be in their first appearances at NAIA Outdoor nationals with two freshman in this group, Sherman and Curtis. The rest are sophomores in their athletic eligibility, including Charles, Mand, and Hayden.
