The Park University indoor track & field program traveled to Pittsburg, Kan. on Saturday for the NAIA/JUCO Challenge hosted by Pittsburg State University.
The Pirates' men's 4x800m Relay team crushed their event with a time of 7:46.50, reaching the NAIA's "B" standard for their spot at NAIA Indoor Nationals.
Ethan Willmann,
Alexander Caines,
Tom Kuehnel, Palmer O'Connor were the four that were up to the task and placed 2
nd at the meet. Among NAIA schools, this is the 6
th fastest time this season.
Willmann came back individually with an 8
th place finish in the 800m event with a time of 1:56.7.
Another relay team comprised of
Shemar Caines, A. Caines,
Ahmad Evans, and
Chase Housh ran well for 3
rd place in the 4x400m relay in a time of 3:19.6.
Evans continues to leave his mark in the long jump event and he reached a distance of 7.16m for 3
rd place.
Lukas Mehl chased down a top 10 finish in the 3,000m event with a time of 8:38.1 for 6
th place.
There were five personal records on the women's side, including a 6
th place finish from
Hope Klamm with a 9.14 in the 60m Hurdles.
Park's women's 4x400m relay team took 6
th as well with a time of 4:07.82. The group was made up of
Hannah Mand,
Lily Brecheisen, Lilly Comarcho, and
Jonnicia Williams.
Again, Rosjai Curtis has been at the pinnacle of performance in the triple jump and long jump. This is her fourth 1
st place finish in the triple jump this season, every college meet the freshman has competed in. She hit a mark of 11.62m in the triple jump and placed 2
nd in the long jump with a distance of 5.70m.
