The Park University outdoor track & field team competed in Pittsburg, Kan. on Saturday at the 15th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic.
On the men's side, there were six different Pirates or relay teams that hovered around the top 10.
Finishing 9
th was the 4x400m relay team with a 3:23.66 from the group of
Ahmad Evans,
Timothy Caines,
Chase Housh, Cooper Slominksi.
Coming in at 10
th was Housh, who crossed in 57.44 in the 400m hurdles. His teammate
Michael Boguslawski was close behind in 16
th with a 59.52.
Tracking down a 16:37.61 time in the 5,000m run was
Andrew Figueroa, finishing in 11
th.
Also putting his best foot forward was Evans, who completed the 400m dash in a time of 50.27 for 12
th place.
Cooper Slominski had a great effort in the 110m Hurdles with 11
th place and crossed the line in 15.88 seconds. Â
A great showing by the pair of Park throwers also came in with improved distances across the board from last week in the discus with 41.15m and 38.69m marks from Keevon Monroe-McFadden and
Tony Eason, respectively. McFadden finished in 13
th and Eason was 18
th.
This same duo were right next to one another in the shot put event in 27
th by Eason and 28
th for McFadden. Eason earned a distance of 12.15m and McFadden was a little over a meter behind with a 11.11m toss.
Jena Hahlbeck on the women's side consistently puts together great races, finishing in 3
rd this time around in the 800m dash in a time of 2:16.68.
Coming in 9
th was Park's 4x400m relay squad comprised of Solange Carter,
Hope Klamm,
Allison Anderson, and
Faith Klamm. The group garnered a top 10 performance while reaching the finish in a time of 4:21.43.
Dawn McIntyre was ready to go in the women's long jump with a 4.84m mark for 11
th place on Saturday.
The versatile McIntyre also was 39
th in the 100m dash with a time of 13.26.
Hope Klamm cracked the top 20 in the 400m dash in a time of 1:01.70 for 18
th with her teammates falling behind her by several steps. Carter was 23
rd in a 1:03.74, Anderson clocked a 1:04.19 for 25
th, and in 27
th was
Faith Klamm in a 1:05.09.
Naiyah Landrum and
Kennise Anderson stood out in the women's hammer throw with 12
th and 18
th place finishes, respectively. Landrum shot the implement 44.04m, while Anderson hit a mark of 41.56m.
Friday, Park returns to the track for the Mule Relays in Warrensburg, Mo. on Friday, April 14
th.
