The Park University outdoor track & field team were in Warrensburg, Mo. for the Mule Relays hosted by University of Central Missouri on Friday.
The Pirates between the men's and women's teams had a combined 17 personal records, according to Head Coach Brian Renshaw.
Among these are six members of Park's squad who have moved into the Top 10 of Park's all-time records. All six are in their first season at Park and five are freshman.
Cooper Slominski placed 10
th in the 110m Hurdles and came through with a time of 15.61. He now is No. 7 on Park's all-time list.
Ahmad Evans also moves into No. 7 on the all-time list in the triple jump with a 13.55m jump for 4th at the Mule Relays. Evans entered into the 400m hurdles and placed 8
th in a time of 1:00.16 as well.
Shanai Sweeting put on the jets in the 100m hurdles finals and is now No. 9 at Park in the event after a 8
th place finish on a 15.56.
Hope Klamm was a step away from her teammate in the 100m hurdles preliminary round with a 15.76 and was 10
th at the relays and is now No. 10 on Park's all-time list.
Also scratching the Top 10 is
Jordan Huber, who ripped the discus 34.76m for 28
th in Warrensburg. She is now No. 10 in the discus in Park's history.
Naiyah Landrum placed 13
th in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.82m and is No. 3 all-time at Park now.
In the 400m dash,
Jena Hahlbeck was the runner to beat with the fastest time at the meet with a 58.85. She is normally accustomed to the 800m event and has already qualified for nationals, but in her first go through this season she took 1
st place. Prior to this weekend, Hahlbeck had competed with the 4x400m relay team.
The senior Keevon Monroe-McFadden found his groove with his longest discus throw of the season at 42.92m for 21
st.
Tony Eason also came through with his furthest throw of 2023 with a 39.75m distance in the discus.
Tom Shroeder and
Johann Hudson both showed improvement this weekend in the 1,500m event. Schroeder clocked a 4:07.96 for 22
nd, while Hudson shaved time off his run with a 4:17.91 for 36
th.
Ethan Willmann chased down a Top 10 finish with 9
th in the 800m dash with a time of 1:57.90.
Manuel Reyes was several seconds back at 2:01.53 and placed 18
th.
In the 400m,
Chase Housh was outside of the Top 10 in 13
th on a time of 50.40. Both the Caines brothers were step for step with one another in the 400m with times of 50.96 and 51.24.
Alexander Caines came in ahead with a 16
th place finish, while his brother
Timothy Caines grabbed 18
th.
Also in the 400m were
Michael Boguslawski and
Benjamin Preston finishing in 26
th and 31
st.
Park will be in Emporia, Kan. again on Saturday, April 22 to compete in the Emporia State Classic.
