The Pirates Take 6th in Opening Meet of 2025 at the Bob Timmons Classic

The Park University women's cross country program competed in their season opening meet on Saturday at the Bob Timmons Classic in Lawrence, Kan. at Rim Rock Farm.
 
Park had 139 points for 6th out of seven teams. University of Kansas won the meet with 19 points, sweeping the field with their first three racers going 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 
 
Two newcomers, Anna Joyce and Charlotte Timba, were the leaders for Park. Joyce took 15th in a time of 19:55.91, while Timba was a couple minutes back at 22:09.77. Hannah Mand, the junior for the Pirates, was next to Timba in the standings at 37th with a time of 22:25.95.

The remaining Pirates filed in soon after, including Jasmin Klaunig, Jonnicia Williams, Lilly Comarcho, Yasmine Rutledge, and Destiny Pearson.

Klaunig, Williams, and Comarcho were under 24 minutes in the 5k. Klaunig took 40th, posting a 23:02.52, while Williams and Comarcho were back-to-back in 42nd and 43rd. Williams finished at 23:32.20 and Comarcho was a split second behind at 23:32.34.

Yasmine Rutledge had her first race as a Pirate, taking 49th in a time of 24:20.29. In 52nd, Destiny Pearson closed out the Bob Timmons Classic for Park with a time of 24:55.20.
 
Park will travel to Central College in Pella, Iowa for their next meet on Friday, Sept. 5th.
