The Park University women's cross country team was in Peoria, Ill. on Friday, racing in the Bradley "Pink" Classic. The Pirates took 11th as a team on 337 points.
The Pirates were led by this week's Heart Runner of the Week,
Anna Joyce. The Prairie Village, Kan. native ran her personal record of 23:05.62 in the 6k for 36th.Â
Overall there were seven personal records by the Pirates, including Joyce,
Charlotte Timba, Sophia Van Asselt,
Lilly Comarcho,
Jonnicia Williams,
Jasmin Klaunig, and Yasmine Rutledge.
Timba and Van Asselt were in the top half of runners in 73rd and 86th in times of 24:04.24 and 24:21.11, respectively.
Comarcho was next to cross for 127th in a time of 25:14.91.
Williams, Mand, and Kluanig were in a pod together in 137th, 141st, and 143rd. Williams posted a 25:33.66, Mand a 25:38.88, and Klaunig a 25:40.09.
Destiny Pearson and Rutledge then finished off the race for Park in 192nd and 200th. Pearson ran a 28:29.24, while Rutledge came in at 29:35.60.
The Pirates have their eyes on the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship on November 8 at 11:30am in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Seminole Valley Park.
