The Park University women's cross country program was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship at Seminole Valley Park. The Pirates took 6th place as a team in the 6k with 167 points.
Benedictine College came away with the title for the Heart with 30 points.
A 6th place team finish is one spot better than 2024 and this is the now the best finish Park has had at the Heart Championship since joining the conference in 2020.
The Pirates were led by two freshman, entering in their first Heart Championship and they knocked it out of the park.
Anna Joyce led Park with an 11th place finish in a time of 22:07.4. Not only did she come away as a Heart 1st Team All-Conference standout, but also a 2025 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championship individual qualifier.Â
Timba rolled in next for Park with a 23:01.2 for 25th. Running under 24 minutes as well was
Lilly Comarcho in 48th with a 23:58.5.
Another three Pirates crossed the finish line in the 24 minute range, including
Hannah Mand,
Jonnicia Williams, and
Jasmin Klaunig. Mand took 57th with a 24:18, Williams with a 24:32.5 for 61st, and Klaunig was 65th in a time of 24:58.5.
Following in behind was Sophia Van Asselt with a 26:05.5 for 89th.Â
Then the Klamm sisters took 108th and 116th.
Hope Klamm rna a 28:04.1, while
Faith Klamm posted a 31:13.6.
