The (RV) Park University women's golf program had a good start on Thursday at the Conquistador Classic, but day two was ended prematurely through nine holes due to extreme wind conditions in Dodge City, Kan.
At Mariah Hills Golf Course, the Pirates took 2
nd place through the first 18-holes and consequently the tournament.
Park only trailed New Mexico Junior College, who impressed with a 293 for 1
st place. With a 309, the Pirates were four strokes ahead of the tournament host Dodge City Community College with a 309.
Micaela Suhl shot a 73 in her first round with three birdies for 2
nd.
Anna Korsen was also in the top five with a T5th finish on a 75.
Just outside of the top 10 was
Kim Albertus in T12th with an 80.
Her teammate was one stroke behind with an 81 in
ZaZa Cagle, who came in 17
th.
Grace Rogers and
Peyton Kuhlman also were even at 84 for T20th in round one.
Hannah Reynoldson, like Kuhlman, competed as an individual and shot an 88 for T29th. Â Â
Park looks ahead to the Graceland Spring Invitational at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, Mo.
