The Pirates held off Morningside's late scoring chances to win 1-0 on a hot, humid Saturday night. The only goal of the game was scored in the 42nd minute by
Juan Diego Covarrubias on a deep shot that found the back of the net. The goal was assisted by Diedo Silva.
How it Happened
The match could be described in one word: physical. The Pirates and Mustangs battled back and forth all night as the fouls and yellow cards started to pile up. The first yellow og the game came just 17 minutes in, as Morningside's Tobias Allerstorfer was carded. Four more yellows, two on the Mustangs and two on the Pirates, came throughout the rest of the match. Morningside dominated the shot battle, especially late, and had a few chances to tie up the match, but couldn't get it done. The one goal from
Juan Diego Covarrubias late in the first half proved to be the difference, and Park will head into conference action after starting the season 2-0 with a win vs. Avila University and now a win vs. Morningside University.

Park will take on Culver Stockton on the road to start conference play and will look to keep the undefeated record alive.
