Park University Men's Soccer fell for the first time in the 2026 season as a late collapse doomed the Pirates.
How it happened
The Pirates put pressure of the Vikings all throughout the first half, recording eight shots in the first 45 minutes of play, including three shots, two on goal, in the first 11 minutes. However, it was not until the 36th minute of play that Colten Parson put in his third goal of the season to break up the 0-0 tie. The Vikings ahd a couple of shots in the last 10 minutes of the first half, but couldn't get anything to go in and Park went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Park started the second half aggressively again, and in the 53rd minute, extended the lead with another goal, this time by
Marcos Fernandes III off an assist by
Dejan Zielinski. Park had the game in control, but the Vikings battled back with a goal in the 67th minute of play off the foot of Gaetan Ducatillon.
Park had a 2-1 lead as late as the 80th minute, but the Vikings, who had been putting pressure on the Pirates for several minutes, tied up the match at 2-2 after Ethan Oldman put a ball in the back of the net. Then, when the match seemed like it was headed for a tie, a miscommunication from Park allowed a ball to tip of the hands of
Uros Pavlovic and roll into the goal with 87 seconds left.
The Pirates fell for the frist time this season.
