Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

No. 8 Park Gains Clean Sweep Over Missouri S&T

The No. 8 nationally ranked Park University men's volleyball program stayed undefeated on Wednesday night with a sweep over Missouri S&T in Breckon Sports Center, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17.

Park hit over .500 in the first and third sets to reach 7-0, while the Miners are 5-3 on the year.

A 7-2 start for Park in the match gave the sure advantage to the Pirates in the early going. Even after Missouri S&T rallied with a 4-0 run to come within two points, Park turned on the afterburners with a 6-0 run to firmly bring home a 25-15 win.

Late life in set two by Missouri S&T tied things at 18 all and it remained close as the Miners tied it once more at 22-22. The Pirates' Murrillo Silva and Felipe Machado had a key kill and service ace though to take it to set point. The senior Pirate, Mihailo Ivanovic had the honor of blasting the final kill for the 25-23 set two win.

Set three began close, but the Pirates were the ones with a late burst to close out the match with a 9-4 run for the 25-17 win. This time, Adrian Figeroa and Moises Ortiz, both hailing from the Dominican Republic, denied the Miners at the net with a doubleblock for the sweep.

Figueroa had his number called plenty on Wednesday with 20 kills and six digs.

Silva was just as effective with 15 kills and a service ace.

It was a nice addition for the Pirates to have Kaabeche Abdelmouaiz in the lineup, and the freshman from Algeria led Park with two service aces.

Jovan Nikolic led the Pirates with 34 assists and picked up five digs, while Rodrigo Macedo led the Pirates with six digs on the defensive end.

For the match, Park hit .481, not bad considering this is a NCAA Division II opponent across from them.

The Pirates will continue with their circuit of NCAA Division II opponents tonight against Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. WATCH
