The Park University softball program was in Branson, Mo. on Friday and Saturday with four matchups with York University, Sterling College, Viterbo University, and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. The Pirates won their first three games, but then fell to the Eagles.
Park went to 7-4 after the weekend's games on the season.
The York game featured an 11-inning pitching dual, one that Park's
Rori Hornung came out on top of, pitching the distance and not allowing an earned run in the 3-2 win.
It was a big four-run rally that turned the tide for Park against Sterling, and riding a 12 strikeout performance by Hannah Vaught the Pirates also edged the Warriors, 6-5.
The Pirates put up their most runs of the weekend against Viterbo and once again a standout 4th inning of five runs was another difference maker, as the Pirates took home the 10-5 win.
Park had the 1-0 lead over the Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan in the second inning, but Oklahoma Wesleyan turned it on for seven runs in the middle innings. Park's offense stalled a bit to finish out the weekend with only three hits in the final game.
Gracie Ramsey co-led the Pirates with
Faith Tessman on hits with four each.
Emma James and
Chloe Gilbert were next in line with three each.
The trio of James, Ramsey, and
Anna Shrum were run producers for the Pirates with three RBIs each.
