Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Park Tacks On Second Half Goal to Capture Draw with Benedictine, 1-1

The Park University women's soccer program was in action on Saturday on Julian Field, as the Pirates hosted the Ravens of Benedictine College. The Ravens got the first half goal, but the Pirates scored in the second half to equalize for the draw, 1-1.

Park is now 3-2-2 on the year with their second tie in league play, as Park moves to 1-1-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference where a point can be the difference at the end of the year. The Ravens are even in the conference at 2-2-1, while they have had a strong season at 5-3-1 so far.

Both of these teams have had their respective win streaks over the other in this historic matchup. The Pirates from 1993 to 1999 held an eight game win streak over the Ravens, but in recent years, the last 15 games have sided with the Ravens, that is until now.

The Ravens began the game with a goal at the 10:59 mark and that's where the score stood for the first half.

Benedictine had six shots in the first half with three shots on goal, while the Pirates were at four and one of the same.

That same difference was in the first half corner kicks as well with six first half corners for Benedictine and four for the Pirates.

In the second half the Pirates put up eight shots and at the 60th minute Patrycia Kozak equalized for Park on a ball from Maddy Farris, 1-1.

Both defenses built up their backlines and did not allow any goals for the rest of the game.

Frankie Williams had four saves for the game with two in each half and two of Park's second half shots were on goal as well.

The Pirates now look to their Homecoming matchup this Saturday against Missouri Baptist University, as Park University celebrates its 150th anniversary. Before the game their will be a tailgate at Julian Field put on by Park's Advancement and Alumni Relations team with food provided by Central Bank, the official banking partner of Park University. Between games newly inducted and previous Wall of Honor inductees will be celebrated on Julian Field. This year Sherry Faulconer (Bowmar), Bob Kendrick, and Erik Bergrud will be inducted into the Park Wall of Honor on Friday at 3pm in the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel.
