The Park University men's soccer program was in action on Saturday in Olathe, Kan. with a primetime matchup with No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene University. The Pirates were up for the challenge and kept the Pioneers from finding the net, nil-nil.
The Pirates hold at 4-1-2 and 0-1-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while the unbeaten Pioneers are 5-0-2 and 1-0-1 of the same.
You can expect good games from these two teams as they tied nil-nil in 2023 and Park lost by only one goal in the 2024 and 2022 matchups.
Park managed to get five shots for the game, but were not able to target one on goal. The Pioneers had opportunities, but were stifled against a stingy backline of Park and the NAIA and Heart Defender of the Week,
Felipe Ramos between the posts.Â
Ramos had six saves on the day with five coming in the second half. MidAmerica Nazarene had two more set piece opportunities on eight corner kicks in the game, compared to Park's six.Â
The Pioneers squared up 22 shots for the game, but at the final horn the Pirates came away with a needed point against a top ranked opponent.
Park looks to Graceland University on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm in Lamoni, Iowa.
