The (RV) Park University women's volleyball program was in Breckon Sports Center on Saturday, making a swift victory in three sets against Peru State College, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20.
The Pirates move up to 5-2 on the season with a 2-1 Heart of America Athletic Conference record, while the Bobcats are 0-3 in 2025 and 0-1 in the Heart.
The Pirates opened set one with a .273 hitting percentage with 14 kills. Peru State was off to a slower start at six kills and .036 hitting. Peru State would warm up to the match, improving their attack percentage each set, finishing with a .094, while Park was at .270.
Park garnered early momentum with kills from
Visnja Canak and
Indi Zetic, and a service ace by
Luna Martins extended Park's lead to 11-4. Park continued to gain more separation from the Bobcats and finally a Peru State timeout was called at 16-8. At one point, Peru State came within five points, but that would be the closest they would get to, as Park got off to a 25-18 win.
Another big lead early in set two set the tone and Park led 6-2 on another kill by Zetic. Park took advantage of two attack errors by the Bobcats and added a Zetic service ace to extend the lead to 12-5. A 5-1 run brought it within three points, 15-12, and the Bobcats remained in the hunt at 18-16. Head coach

It stayed close to begin set three, but teh Pirates had a kill by
Daniela Gomez and two more service aces by Zetic to get to a 9-6 lead. Peru State worked their way back into the mix and led by one after a double-block, 12-11. Trinty Iverson got her number called for set tying kill at 12, and then
Isadora Dias and
Jullia Alvarez stepped up for a kill and service ace within a 4-0 scoring spree, 15-12. The match was tied three more times and Peru State only trailed by one at 21-20, but Park scored four unanswered to finish the sweep, 25-20.
Dias led Park with 12 kills, while Zetic and
Elisa Dalla Pozza were next in line with seven and six kills.Â
Alvarez contributed 32 assists to the match with six digs, while
Ella Schwalm led the crew with nine digs. Canak was directly behind her with eight digs for the match.
It would be Zetic and Canak, who put on a serving clinic with four for Zetic and three for Canak.
The Pirates host the Park Classic on Friday and Saturday, as they host Kansas Wesleyan University on Friday at 6:30pm, followed by No. 8 Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 11am and No. 6 Northwestern College at 4pm on Saturday.
