The Park University men's soccer team celebrated their 65th season as a program within the 150th year anniversary of Park University in style. The Pirates put up a massive 9-nil number against Kansas Christian College on Saturday at Julian Field.
There was plenty of action on the Pirate side in the opening contest of 2025. A largely one-sided game included 39 shots for Park and none for the Falcons.
Two minutes into the game, the freshman from Brazil,
Pedro Beserra, laced his first goal in his collegiate career. 10 minutes later, he struck again for the Pirates with a brace assisted by
Julian Campos. It would be a memorable game for the Bessera with two more goals in the second half. He was interviewed following his 4-goal performance on this Pirate Post-Game.
Park continued on the attack and four more Pirates got in on the scoring action. Two Pirates from Italy had their number called for goals, including a header from Sameule Pintossi off of a
Luka Andonovski corner kick. Then to close out the half, in the 42nd minute,
Alfonso Vigna gave Park a 4-nil lead.
In the second half, five goals found the net, one from
Raimundo Palma, two more from Beserra, and two from Andonovski.
The back line for Park prevented any Falcon from coming close to the net.
Felipe Ramos between the post gets credit for his first shutout of the season, thanks to an impeccable, defensive effort as a team.
Benjamin Nicolas relieved Ramos in the second half in the keeper position.
Park made the most of their 10 corner kick opportunities, while KCC were without any corners on the night.
The Pirates will take on Hastings College today in their home opener at Julian Field at 2:45pm.
