The Park University No. 4 nationally ranked women's beach volleyball program traveled to Ozark, Mo. for the Southwest Baptist tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 28-29.
The Pirates took on Southwest Baptist University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University in a pair of matches each day, and Park emerged 3-1 out of the weekend. On the season, Park moves to 8-5 and are now 2-1 against the Bearcats.

Southwest Baptist bested Park in a tight 3-2 match to open up the weekend. Park got wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 pairs.
Aly Anderson and
Grecia Ung looked to be in control in the No. 2 match with a 21-12 and 21-14 sweep, and it was much of the same from
Carla Pons Sales and
Patricia Carrio Ubeda at 21-14 and 21-13. The Bearcats had two sweeps themselves, but the No. 1 slot was a close finish, as
Maria Pim and
Izabella Ceratti came up short in a three set match, 17-21, 21-18, 15-11.

Park regrouped in their second match on Friday with a 5-0 win over the Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan. Only one three set match took place in the No. 1 slot, but Pim and Ceratti buckled down for a solid 15-7 third set victory. It was smooth sailing for the rest of the Pirate pairs with 2-0 victories all around.

On day two, it was the same result for Park, except all pairs swept for a 5-0 win. The Pirates had no problems and nearly had an average margin of victory by eight points per set. The biggest wins came from Anderson and Ung and Pons and Ubeda with 11-point wins in their first sets.

The Pirates closed out the weekend with their second win of the season against Southwest Baptist, 4-1. Pim and Ceratti had a thrilling set one with a 28-26 score, but Southwest Baptist also secured the three-point win in the second set for the sweep. Park rolled out three sweeps between the No. 2, 3, and 4 pairs. Anderson and Ung are on an impressive streak now at seven wins in a row with their last loss coming against University of Nebraska on March 7. In the No. 3 spot,
Mafalda Bras and
Luna Martins stood their ground in a 22-20 opening set and then claimed the sweep on a 21-16 win in set two. Williams and Peijenberg came back to win the last two sets against the Bearcats in the No. 5 spot, winning the last two sets by a total of 17 points.
