Park University's softball program won their third game in a row after a sweep of University of Saint Mary in the home opener at the Park Softball Complex on Thursday February 27, 4-0 and 7-2.

GAME 1 | W, 4-0 |
Box Score
It was seven scoreless innings for the senior from Concordia, Mo.,
Lauren Fiene. She earned her first complete game shutout of 2025 and moved to 1-1 on the season. Despite eight hits for the Spires, Fiene tightened up with runners on base with 11 strikeouts for the game and left 11 Spires stranded on the base paths. This is her third shutout of her career and with 10 complete games in each of her last two seasons, she now has 21 for her three-year career.
A single up the middle by
Halle Magee drove in two Pirates in the first inning, as a throwing error got the lead-off
Caroline Riffer on followed by a single on a bunt by
Gracie Ramsey.
Back-to-back doubles by
Hanna Vaught and
Emma Reed scored a third run in the bottom of the second inning and then after a sacrifice bunt by Riffer, Ramsey grounded out to add a fourth run to the scoreboard, 4-0.
Both teams were held scoreless in the last five innings and with Fiene in the circle, Park earned the 4-0 win.
GAME 2 | W, 7-2 |
Box Score
It looked like early trouble for the Pirates in game two as a double and a single brought across the Spires first run of the afternoon against
Myel White.
White pitched out of a jam in the second inning without allowing a run, as a throwing error gave the Spires a lead-off runner, but then with one out and the bases loaded, White induced the grounder to
Emma James at third who cut down the runner at the plate for the second out. A groundout to Magee at shortstop would then end the inning to keep the game at a 1-0 deficit.
It would not stay 1-0 for long, as an explosion of six runs thundered in for Park in the second inning to lead 6-1. Seven hits out of eight batters knocked Saint Mary's starter out of the game, as the inning was highlighted by two RBI doubles by
Ashton Arndt and Ramsey.
The Spires' relief pitcher got out of the second inning within minimal damage and did not allow another run until the sixth inning, as Ramsey singled through the right side of the infield to score Riffer from second with two outs.
White pitched three innings, including two scoreless, and then
Hanna Vaught came in for the win with four innings pitched and only allowed one run in the top of the seventh to make it 7-2. Â That makes for back-to-back wins for Vaught coming off the previous day's win over Kansas Wesleyan.
