Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

The Pirates Play a Close Half with No. 6 Missouri Valley Before Falling 4-2

The Park University women's soccer team was in Marshall, Mo. on Saturday, taking on No. 6 Missouri Valley College. The Pirates and Vikings were tied after the first half, but three goals put the Vikings up 4-2.

Park moves to 4-3-2 on the season with a 2-2-2 Heart of America Athletic Conference record. The Vikings are unbeaten on the season at 8-0-3 with a 6-0-1 Heart record.

It was a pretty clean game with no cards throughout. Inside a minute of play, the press by Patrycia Kozak perfectly anticipated a pass by the last defender of the Vikings. From there it was off to the races for Kozak and she delivered the game's first goal at the 52 second mark.

The Pirates held their own against the Vikings and it wouldn't be until the last 15 seconds of the first half that Missouri Valley equalized, 1-1.

A lot of confidence was built up by the Pirates with three saves coming from Frankie Williams in the first half. The Vikings had the advantage with seven corner kicks and 11 shots in the first half, while Park had zero corners and four shots.

In the second half, it was another forward in Rand Taleb that intercepted a pass from the Viking backline. She had an almost identical breakaway goal as Kozak's and Park led 2-1.

The Vikings were able to breakthrough in the second half though and scored three unanswered goals at 55, 66, and 78 minute marks for the 4-2 win.

The Vikings had 13 shots in the second half and Park put up seven themselves. Corner kicks were still heavily favoring Missouri Valley, 12 to one. Williams had five saves on the evening, while Missouri Valley was able to save six of Park's eight shots on goal.

Park takes on Graceland University on Wednesday, October 8 at 5pm in Lamoni, Iowa as a makeup of the September 17 postponement. WATCH
