No. 8 William Penn Overtakes Park in the Second Half, 2-1

The Park University men's soccer program took on the No. 8 William Penn University Statesmen on Tuesday night in Osklaoosa, Iowa. The Pirates held the halftime lead, but William Penn overtook Park in a matter of minutes in the second half, 2-1.

Park now stands at 6-8 on the year with a 6-4-2  Heart of America Athletic Conference record, while William Penn rises to 8-4-4 on the year with a 6-3-3 Heart record. It was a heavily defensive battle in the first 45 minutes and it wouldn't be until 40:50 on the clock when the first goal was scored. It came off the foot of Park's Pedro Beserra to lift Park to the 1-nil lead.

At the half, Park had four shots with two on goal, compared to the Statesmen' seven with four on goal. A big credit to Felipe Ramos with four saves in teh first half for the Pirates and he finished the game with five saves.

William Penn would not get on the board until the 63rd minute to tie the game, 1-1. They would make quick work and again scored in the 65th minute on a penalty kick.

The score would stay there the rest of the way, despite Park taking eight shots to William Penn's five in the second half. Both teams were at 12 shots for the game. Park would have two shots on goal in the second half.
