Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

McIntyre Delivers a Brace in Upset Victory Over No. 14 Grand View, 2-1

The Park University men's soccer team was at Julian Field on Wednesday with a major upset victory over No. 14 Grand View University, 2-1.

Park's record jumped to 5-7-1 and 5-3-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while Grand View went to 9-2-3 and 5-2-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

It did not take long for the crowd to know that the Pirates meant business, as Jacksyn McIntyre got the game started with a goal in the 7th minute of play, 1-0. Pedro Beserra found a racing McIntyre down the right sideline and after a few strides, a powerful strike by McIntyre found the bottom left corner of the net.

The score held at 1-0 through the first half and Park had eight shots compared to Grand View's eight.

Felipe Ramos played a quality game along with the backline with three saves in the first half. The Vikings had five first half saves, otherwise Park could have been up by more.

In the 58th minute though, Grand View equalized to make it 1-1.

It was a hard fought game and there were less opportunties in the second half for Park with only four second half shots. The Vikings added another eight shots for 16 for the match. Of Park's 11 shots, nine were on goal though compared to eight for the Vikings.

The Pirates', off of corner kick by Alfonso Vigna, hit the mark again in the 72nd minute. Diego Silva initially got a shot on goal and saved from the initial corner. Off of the rebound, McIntyre was there to clean it up for the game winning goal, 2-1.

Grand View had 10 corner kicks for the game, while the Pirates were at five.

Both teams had seven saves for the game.
