Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

William Woods Capitalizes on Last Minute Goal Against Park, 2-1

The Park University men's soccer team was at home on Saturday against the William Woods University Owls. William Woods and Park were in a close battle throughout the 90 minutes, but the Owls scored late for the 2-1 win.

Park moved to 5-7-2 on the season with a 5-3-2 Heart of America Athletic Conference record. The Owls move to 5-6-3 on the year with a 2-5-3 Heart of America Athletic Conference record.  The last time these two teams faced one another was in the American Midwest Conference in 2019. Park won that contest at Julian Field 4-1. Overall the series is 9-7-1 in favor of the Pirates.

The Pirates got on the board first at the 18 minute mark on a goal from Luka Andonovski, his fifth goal of the season, on a chip pass down the far sideline from Matias Aravena.

William Woods would equalize nine minutes later in the 27th minute and that's where the score stayed through the first 45 minutes.

There were eight shots registered by the Owls compared to 10 for Park. Of those shots, the Pirates had six on goal compared to three for William Woods.

Corner kicks were about even for the half and the game, as William Woods had three in the first half and five in the second half, while the Pirates had two in the first half and closed the game with eight corner kicks.

It unfortunately would be a set piece on a corner kick by the Owls that delivered the game winning goal, after 61 minutes of no goals. At the last possible moment in the 88th minute, William Woods looped the corner kick into a crowd and it was headed out but not cleared, and off the rebound William Woods kicked it through the crowd for final goal, 2-1.

William Woods had 18 shots for the game, while Park only had four shots in the second half.

Felipe Ramos had six saves to match the Owls' keeper as well.

Park will be back in Heart play on Saturday night against (RV) Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. at 7:30pm. WATCH
