The Park University men's soccer program hosted the Wildcats of Baker University on Saturday, October 11 for Park's Breast Cancer Awareness Games. The Pirates got a point against (RV) Baker for the draw, 1-1.
Park moved to 4-6-2 and 4-2-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while Baker stood at 7-4-2 and 4-3-1 of the same.
It was a heavily defensive contest between Baker and Park with neither side breaking through until the second half.
Both keepers had three saves in the first half. All of Baker's shots were on target for a total of three shots in the first half, while the Pirates had five first half shots.
Jacksyn McIntyre got his seventh goal of the season in the 50th minute to go up 1-nil.
Unfortunately for Park though a second caution for the Pirates' midfielder
Marcos Fernandes in the 62nd minute led to an ejection and Park played a man down the rest of the match.
This caught up to Park in the 77th minute as the Wildcats equalized 1-1.
There was another ejection with a red card for the Wildcats directly after the goal was scored.
It did not end up affecting the final result as both teams settled for a hard fought point, 1-1.Â
Park had five cautions for the game, while four yellow cards and two red cards were issued to the Wildcats, one of those reds going to the Baker bench.
Baker took all seven corner kicks in the match.
Park's
Felipe Ramos helped Park stay in the match with five second half saves for a total of eight in the game.
Overall Park had 10 shots with six on goal, while the Wildcats had nine second half shots for a total of 12 with nine on frame.
