The Park University women's soccer program was in Atchison, Kan. on Wednesday evening to take on (RV) Benedictine College in the second contest of Heart of America Athletic Conference play. The Ravens scored the first three goals to secure the win over Park, 3-1.
The Pirates are still looking for their first points in conference play at 0-2 and move to 2-4-1 on the season. Benedictine has six points in the conference with opening Heart wins against Culver-Stockton and Park and are 4-3-1 on the season. The Ravens with the win now are on a three game win streak.
Two goals were scored in succession in the 26
th minute, Payton Vogelbacher scored the opening goal with an assist from Jenna Wilken. Wilken then 18 seconds later scored off a pass from Lizzy Gresch.
At the half, Park had six shots to Benedictine's five, but the Ravens had four shots on goal in the first half.
Ten minutes into the second half, Vogelbacher earned an unassisted brace in the 56
th minute to give the Ravens a comfortable 3-nil lead.
The Pirates broke through on a goal from
Megan Everhart, her second goal of the season, with
Lilli Porsch credited with the assist.
The Ravens controlled the second half with 12 shots to Park's four, finishing the game with 17 shots to the Pirates' 10.
Two Park keepers were between the posts in the game.
Delaney Duke had one save in the first half and
Frankie Williams had one goal against, but four saves in the second half. Benedictine's Mackenzie Korzenecki also had five saves to match the two Pirates.
Park travels to Grand View University on Saturday for a 4pm match in Des Moines, Iowa.
