The Park University men's soccer program started off the season at Julian Field against Kansas Christian College on Wednesday and got the offense rolling for a 4-nil win.
This was the season opener for both teams and the Pirates rise to 1-0 and the Falcons fall to 0-1.
The Pirates are now 2-0 against the Falcons in program history, just going back to 2023 when Park defeated Kansas Christian 9-1.
For 28 minute the Falcons hung in with Park, but the first shot on goal also was the first Pirate goal at 28:36.
Bradyn McIntyre, the senior from Blue Springs, Mo. got the goal scoring started with a header off of a corner kick play that went from
Filip Andonovski's corner to
Diego Quintana and then to McIntyre for the goal.
It was a quick turn of events from there as two more goals came at the '40 and '41 marks on the clock. First, Francesco Reyes sent in a nice volley from the far sideline that reached
Luka Andonovski for his first collegiate goal in his Park debut.
Reyes got in on the action with a goal the next minute as he received a nice ball from sophomore
Raimundo Palma to go up 3-nil at the half.
Park had 13 shots per half and finished the game with seven shots on goal.
The senior McIntyre's brother, Jacksyn McIntyre, a junior transfer from Johnson County Community College go the final goal of the afternoon in the 64
th minute. Bradyn has been a defender for the Pirates the last three seasons, while Jacksyn is proving himself to be a promising attacking forward.
The heat index was rising as play continued into the afternoon and with a heat index of 92, the policy is to cease from playing. Regardless, once the game reached the '70 minute it was considered an official game by rule so after 71 minutes of action the game was called, 4-nil Park.
