Park University's softball program swept the Missouri Valley College Vikings on Wednesday, April 24 at the Park Softball Complex, 4-3 in nine innings and 5-0.
Park moved to 18-20 on the season with a 8-14 Heart of America Athletic Conference record, while Missouri Valley is now 17-25 and 11-11 in conference play.

Lauren Fiene had to work out of trouble in the first inning as two runs came in to score. The Vikings would only score one more time in the game in the fourth inning, while seven shutout innings were tossed by the Concordia, Mo. native in a nine-inning complete game.
In the second inning, the Pirates got the runs back with an RBI Â double by Dani Klein and a sacrifice fly by
Emma James to tie the game 2-2.
After Missouri Valley scored in the fourth inning,
Halle Magee rallied the Pirates in the bottom of the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly to leftfield to once again tie the game 3-3.
Park and Missouri Valley were scoreless for the next four innings, until
Anna Shrum singled in the bottom of the nine inning. With Shrum on first base, she would come all the way around to score on a dropped fly ball to the right fielder to end the game on a walk-off run by Park, 4-3.
Caroline Riffer, Klein, and James each had multi-hit games for Park.
Fiene earned her
eighth win of the season.

Dakota Rau also pitched a complete game in game two and only allowed four hits in her shutout victory, moving her to seven wins on the season.
Shelby Sanders got the started the scoring in the bottom of the first with a double to bring in Magee.
A throwing error by second base in the fourth inning gave the Pirates an additional run and then a single by
Kal Day the next inning, coupled with an error, brought in two more runs for Park. The very next play Sanders got her second double of the game to make it 5-0.
