Park University's softball program were at the Park Softball Complex in a doubleheader against William Penn University on Friday, ending in a sweep by the Statesmen, 1-3 and 4-6.
Park is now 11-9 on the season and drop to 1-3 in the Heart. William Penn was at an even .500 after the series at 13-13 and 2-0 in conference play, although they got swept by (RV) Benedictine the following day.

Park was able to get out to leads the previous day against No. 16 Grand View, but on Friday William Penn got to the lead first in both games in the top of the first inning.
Two runs came across to score in the first inning against
Lauren Fiene, who had pitched a complete game the day before, but this time around threw five quality innings on four hits, zero walks, and five strike outs.
Nia Muniz took the ball the rest of the way and between her and Fiene, they pitched five shutout innings.
Two double plays in the game took some of the wind out of the Pirates' sails, but Muniz gave the Pirates some life with one out to go in the bottom of the seventh. Muniz hit a triple to the right field corner and then was able to score on a throwing error that came in from right field for Park's first run.
Dani-Quinn Klein kept the game going with a single and then Miranda LuMunyon hit a double to put the tying run on second. The comeback was stopped short as the Statesmen drew the groundout to end the game, 3-1.
Seven different Pirates had hits in game one and LaMunyon was the only hitter to have two hits in the contest.

The Pirates out hit the Statesmen in both games, but unfortunately they also had four more errors between the two games.
The second game got off to another 2-0 start by William Penn on three hits and one error in the field.
Dakota Rau was in the circle and did what she could to limit the runs in the first inning. The inning began with two hits, but then an error loaded the bases. Rau got to strikeouts and a flyout to keep the game within reach at 2-0.
William Penn was able to play sound defensively and got key outs when they needed it. Park had four hits in the first inning, but were limited to the one run.
Caroline Riffer began the game with a single and immediately came around to score on a
Halle Magee double to left center.
With the score 2-1, the Pirates tied things up in the bottom of the second. LaMunyon and
Emma James did their job to get on base with no outs. After a lineout, two walks were issued to Magee and Kali Day to bring in the tying run with the bases loaded. Once again, the Statesmen were able to hold Park there with the score tied 2-2.
Both sides got one run in the third inning to keep things tense, but Park broke through with a run in the bottom of the fifth to take their first lead of the series, 4-3. With the bases loaded once again, the Pirates' lead-off, Riffer came through with her second hit of the game for the game's go-ahead run.
The Statesmen came back in the top of the seventh to overtake Park with three runs on two hits and two errors. Rau and Muniz combined forces to end the last inning in the circle and each of the runs scored were unearned.
Rau gave a great effort with 16.1 innings pitched in a 24-hour span. Against the Statesmen she went 6.1 innings on 10 hits with only two earned runs, one walk, and three strike outs.
The third double play of the series ended the game in the bottom of the seventh for William Penn, as they earned the 6-4 win for the sweep.
Magee, James, and Riffer each had multi-hit games. Magee had two doubles in the game, while Muniz hit her second double in back to back games in the same rightfield corner.
The Pirates will travel to Lamoni, Iowa for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30 against Graceland University at 1pm.
