Park Travels to Topeka for the Ichabod Invitational

The Park University indoor track & field program had a good turn out at the Ichabod Invitational hosted by Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.

No team scores were recorded on the weekend, but the Pirates' women's indoor track & field team yielded two personal records and there were 10 personal records on the men's side.

Faith Klamm was one of the personal records for Park with a 9.72 in the 60m hurdles for 15th. Her and Shanai Sweeting both made it to the finals on Saturday earning 24th and 27th.

Naiyah Landrum earned a new personal record over the weekend in the shot put with a 11.61m mark for 27th. Her teammate Kennise Anderson had a good showing in the weight throw as well with 29th on a throw of 13.41m.

The Pirates men's team had a great weekend, including a 6th place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:20.86.

Thore Wegner had personal records in 800m and 5,000m events. He led Park in the 800m with 25th place in a time of 1:58.57. Tom Kuehnel clocked a new personal record in the 800m as well with a time of 200.46 for 40th. Wegner would also earn a personal record in the 5,000m with a time of 16:11.83 for 20th place.

Each sprinter in the 60m dash took home personal records, including Ahmad Evans, Shemar Caines, and Jaden Reed. Evans crossed first with a 7.24 in 52nd followed by Shemar's 85th place finish at a mark of 7.45. Reed was close behind Shemar with 90th place in a time of 7.69.

Similar to the 60m runners, the 600 yard event showcased three personal records by the Pirates. Amael Maunay took 10th with a time of 1:14.61, while Benajmin Preston and Michael Boguslawski also grabbed personal records with times of 1:18.63 and 1:20.96. Preston was just outside the top 10 with 15th place and Boguslawski took 25th.

The final personal record was done by Lukas Mehl in the 3,000m event with 31st with a time of 8:48.29.

Next weekend will be the 2024 Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, February 16-17 in Maryville, Mo. hosted at Northwest Missouri State University.
