8 More Records Go Down at the SDSU Indoor Classic by the Pirates

2/19/2026 2:53:00 PM

The Park University indoor track & field program was in Brookings, S.D. on Friday and Saturday at the SDSU Indoor Classic hosted by South Dakota State University.

The Pirates are continuing to trend in an unprecedented direction this spring with records being broken week in and week out. Park is garnering a significant amount of momentum in recent meets and this weekend alone, eight new records were broken.

There were two first place finishes by Park, including the Heart Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, Cody Hammond, and the women's distance medley relay. Hammond was part of two record breaking performances over the weekend, individually in the 800m with a 1:50.75 and in the men's 4x800m relay with a time of 7:39.44. Both of these performances met the NAIA A standard.

The women's distance medley relay was comprised of Charlotte Timba, Hannah Mand, Lilly Comarcho, and Anna Joyce; and this group will have their names in Park history with a 12:33.94 DMR. The women's 4x800m relay team also had a record breaking performance with a 9:38.27 for 3rd place.

In his opening season with the Pirates, Van Forbes Jr. posted a record breaking time in the 60m with a 6.72 time for 2nd place, which also was enough for the NAIA A standard.

Another 2nd place finish, featured a senior Pirate in the 600m, as Alexander Caines raced to the NAIA A standard as well as a Park record with a time of 1:18.98.

Mya Charles has stood out this year and already has qualified in the 60m and the 200m dash, but she garnered the 200m record this weekend with a 24.67.

The men's 4x400 relay was another relay team to make a splash with a Park record of 3:16.55 for 4th place. This group was made up of Alexander Caines, Niran Warde, Sam Thomas, and Chase Housh.

Rosjai Curtis continues to impress in her sophomore season and stood out in the Heart of America Athleic Conference with a Heart Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award for 3rd place in the long jump with a 5.61m jump for the NAIA B standard.

Park will be in Maryville, Mo. on Friday and Saturday for the Heart Championships, February 20 and 21. See the full results below for the SDSU Indoor Classic.
