Mount Mercy Defeats Park in Cedar Rapids, 1-Nil

The Park University women's soccer program traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday in a matchup with Mount Mercy University. The Mustangs successfully fought off the Pirates though in a 1-nil contest.

Park is now 5-8-2 on the season and drop to 3-6-1 in the Heart and No. 7 in the conference table. Mount Mercy, No. 9 in the Heart, now is 2-8-4 and 2-5-3 of the same.

Not a lot of shots on goal were registered in this one, as each team only had one shot on goal in the first half and the Mustangs had the only other shot on goal in the second half.
As the first half went along there were no goals until the final seconds. Mount Mercy had six shots in the first half compared to only to for the Pirates. Mount Mercy's Eden Campbell was able to thread a pass to Esther Attwood, who then got past the last defender for the goal at the top of the net.

The one goal was all that the Mustangs required to get the win. Frankie Williams had one save on the day, while Manuela Gutierrez for Mount Mercy had two saves in her clean sheet.
Park only got two more shots off in the second half, while Mount Mercy had a quiet three as well.

The Pirates will have their final game of the regular season on Saturday, November 2 at 12pm. This will be senior day and Park invites you to join the celebration of our seniors following the Baker match at approximately 2:15pm. WATCH
