The Park University women's soccer program had a strong victory against William Penn on Saturday in Oskaloosa, Iowa, defeating the Statesmen 3-nil.
The Pirates are now 5-6-1 on the year with a 3-4 Heart of America Conference record, while the Statesmen fold to 3-5-6 and 1-4-3 of the same.
The Pirates backline along with
Delaney Duke have secured two clean sheets in a row, as Duke earned two saves on Saturday.
The Pirates were aggressive early and
Rand Taleb is now the seventh goal scorer of the season for Park, as she notched her first goal as a Pirate in the 3
rd minute.
Sofia Morales supplied the assist on the play.
Moving ahead in the match, Morales got in on the action again with a goal of her own at the 34 minute mark with an assist coming from
Lizeth Suarez. Morales now has three goals coming in her last two matches.
The Statesmen had six shots in the first half, but all but one were off target. Duke had one save in each half, while Madeline Danielson had more action with two saves in the first half and three saves in the second half.
A red card came in the 63
rd minute, which put the Statesmen at a disadvantage with a person down the rest of the match.
Out of their 10 shots, they were unable to find the back of the net, but the Pirates added nine shots in the second half for 14 on the game, including the third goal of the game by
Megan Everhart. Everhart now has five goals on the season to lead the Pirates attack. Gina Tassotti was tagged with her second assist of the season on the play.
The Pirates will have a tough matchup with No. 20 Missouri Valley College on Saturday at 1:30pm in Marshall, Mo.
