The Park University women's soccer program captured their third straight Heart of America Athletic Conference win on Saturday evening against Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Iowa, defeating the Wildcats 4-1.
Park is now up to seven wins on the year at 7-2-1 and currently sit at fifth in the Heart with a 4-2 conference record. The Wildcats also are at seven wins at 7-4-2, but differ in conference play at 1-3-2.
It was a tie ball game after the first half, 1-1. The Wildcats' Mikayla Gioia scored the game's first goal off the assist from Savannah Stauffer at 10:26 into the game.
The game would have plenty of goals the rest of the way, as Park tied the match at 1-1 at 28:47 on the clock with a Cecilie Pedersen unassisted goal.
In all the Wildcats had more shots than Park in each half, finishing at 15 shots to 12 shots for Park.
The Pirates cashed in during the second half, scoring three unanswered goals. On the season the Pirates have been a strong second half team with 19 second half goals and have held their opponents to just five of the same. For the season, the Pirates have averaged 2.80 goals per game compared to only 1.20 by their opponents.
Pedersen gave Park the game winning goal at 53:28 with the assist coming from
Patrycia Kozak.
Lili Porsch gave Park insurance minutes later at 59:09 with the assist coming from the combination of
Annalena Penshorn and Pedersen.
Kozak tacked on the game's final goal at 67:42 to reach the game's deciding score of 4-1.
For Pedersen and Kozak, they are making a habit of scoring as Pedersen has now scored in two straight games, while Kozak has goals in three straight contests.
Felicitas Mueller had to put in work for her squad and had seven saves for the match to pair great offense with her great defense.
The Pirates will continue with another road matchup against Baker University on Wednesday, October 11 at 5pm in Baldwin City, Kan.
