Wildcats Score Last Minute Goal for 1-1 Draw Against Park

The Park University men's soccer program tied their Heart of America Athletic Conference opponent, Culver-Stockton College on Saturday night as two goals from each side ended regulation 1-1 in Canton, Mo.

Park has tied in three contests this season and now are 3-3-3 on the season and 1-2-3 in the Heart. The Wildcats have had a difficult September at 2-5-5 so far and are still looking for a conference win at 0-5-1.

The Pirates had five more shots on the game than the Wildcats, 17-12, and included eight first half shots and nine second half shots. The Wildcats had their chances as well with five and seven of the same. Still the shots on goal were relatively the same as Park had one more with eight compared to seven for the Culver-Stockton.

It was scoreless in the first half thanks to Elias Eichhorn with two saves in half one. He came through again in the second half with four more saves for his team's cause.

Francesco Esteban had the important goal for the Pirates at the 65:56 mark in the game with a Pirate assist coming from Wayde Roman.

One goal looked to be enough for a win, but the Wildcats found life at the very end of regulation, scoring in the 86th minute off the leg of Ethan Wilkinson with an assist from Jack Gibson.

Aided by last year's rule change to eliminate overtime for the regular season, this is now the most tie games Park has had in a season since 2008 when Park went 11-4-3 and appeared in an NAIA Opening Round.

Park will play the other Wildcats in the conference, this time in Baldwin City, Kan. on Wednesday, October 11 at 7:30pm against Baker University. WATCH HERE
