The Pirates are 4-17 and 2-14 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, and have had a tough stretch with a four-game losing streak. Clarke lived up to the hype and jump to 20-2 and 14-2 in conference play.
The Pride looked like a well-oiled machine with 10 unanswered points to begin the game. Nicole McDermott had the first seven points of the contest. McDermott finished with 20 points and recently was dubbed a 1,000-point scorer at Clarke.
Donetria McGee broke the silence with Park's first bucket, but the Pride continued to look the part with a 17-2 lead at 5:56.
Pressure from the Pride continued to mount and the quarter ended 27-7. In the first quarter alone the Pride connected on 10-of-18 from the field, three-of-five from three, and four-of-five from the free-throw line. Park's line of the same was three-for-14, 0-for-three, and one-for-two.
Makayla Artis scored Park's first six points of the second quarter over a two and half minute period, making the score 35-13. Artis led the Pirates' scoring effort with eight points on three-of-five from the field.
Despite having their highest scoring quarter of 16 points, the Pirates were still in the hole at halftime, 47-23.
An 8-0 run began quarter three and the Pride showed no signs of slowing up from that point on. They scored three straight quarters of over 20 points for the game and grew their largest lead to 42 in the last three minutes of the game. Park and Clarke's final score turned out to be 81-42.
Park and the Pride were near even in bench points 24 for Park and 26 for the Pride.
The ball was distributed to several Pirates throughout the game. Kate Sokolova was second in scoring behind Artis with seven points, while McGee,
Taylor Shelby,
Aiko Lane, and
Sheridan Curley each scored five points.
15 different Pirates saw action on the floor, including
Angel Holiday who dropped her first career three-point basket at Park.
Park was held to 26.9-percent from the field and were three-of-14 from deep. They were fair from the free-throw line as well with 11-of-18. The Pride were shooting 43.1-percent from the floor and were 10-of-20 from beyond the arc. They also held the advantage in free-throws with a 15-of-24 day.
It was a difference of 14 rebounds between these clubs, Clarke with 47 and Park with 33. No Pirate grabbed more than three rebounds in the game.
The Pirates had 22 turnovers to 13 for the Pride. It came down to an 11-point edge for the Pride in points off turnovers.
14 second chance points went to Park compared to Clarke's nine.
