- In 2022, the program had two Heart All-Conference honorees, one member on second team and the other on the third team. The Pirates, under Shimlis, gained five CSC Academic All-District awards. Immediately following the 2022 season, Jakib Jones was drafted by the Kansas City Comets of the MASL (37th overall pick, 3rd round).
- In 2021, Park came away with two Heart Second Team All-Conference award winners under Coach Shimlis' guidance. Memorably, the Pirates defeated the 2020 NAIA National Champions, Missouri Valley College, to open 2021 Heart play at home. That night on Julian Field Park upset the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in overtime, 2-1.
- During the 2020 season, Shimlis coached three Heart of America All-Conference athletes and one NAIA All-American; and brought Park to a Heart Tournament Quarterfinal finish with a 6-6-2 overall record.
- Shimlis also coached seven Heart Scholar-Athletes during 2020-21.
- In 2019, he led the Pirates to a 9-5-2 record with an appearance in the AMC Conference Tournament Semifinal game.
- In 2018, eight Pirates were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes, which is the most men’s soccer NAIA Scholar-Athletes recorded in a single season in program history.
- Has guided Park University to eight appearances in the NAIA National Tournament (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2013). In 2008, Park qualified for its seventh-straight NAIA National Tournament, which was the third-longest active streak in the country.
- Before his appointment at Park, the Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, native played professionally for the 1997 World Champion Kansas City Attack of the National Professional Soccer League, as well as the Daytona Speed Kings and Columbus Comets.
- In 2002-2003, under coach Shimlis Eric Ongao was named the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Player of the Year.
- Has coached 16 individuals who have earned All-American designations in his tenure at Park; two first team, two-second team, four third team and eight honorable mentions.
- Shimlis has coached 51 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
- Awarded AMC Coach of the Year in 2010 and MCAC and Region IV as Coach of the Year 2007.
- In 2007, the team earned the NELS Dahlquist Team Sportsmanship Award.
