The Pirates held #4 William Penn to a scoreless tie, showing how big a threat they are in the Heart of America Conference. The Pirates benefited from a first-half red card for William Penn after a delayed slide by Leonardo Jimenez went straight into the lower body of Park's Marcos Fernandes. Park outshot William Penn 18-12 and had a few very good opportunities, but the strong defense of William Penn and its goalkeeper kept Park off the board.
Park had one opportunity that looked like it was going to break the tie in the 70th minute, but an amazing double save rejected the Pirates from the lead. Park had constant pressure in the second half, but ramped it up even more in the last 10 minutes, putting up seven shots, but could not get anything past William Penn.
However, against a top-five team in the country, Park will take the tie and move on to September 30 for a road matchup against MidAmerica Nazarene.
