Park University Women's Soccer has found its stride, as the Pirates defeated William Penn 1-0 for a second-straight win. The Pirates moved to 2-5-1 on the season. The match was incredibly chippy against two rivals, producing six yellow cards, including two for Park. Park scored the lone goal on a mistake from the William Penn goalkeeper on a corner kick that resulted in the ball crossing the goal line, and denied William Penn of any chance to take back the momentum.
How it happened
Park started aggressively, as they launched up three shots, including two on goal, in the first eight minutes of action. The aggressiveness of their play style resulted in an early corner kick opportunity in the 14th minute from
Leticia Quadros that was dropped off for a split second by the William Penn goalkeeper, and the line official ruled the ball crossed into the goal.
Park continued the aggressive play style for the rest of the match and ended up taking 18 shots and landing nine of them on goal. William Penn struggled, particularly on the offensive side, with only eight shots.
The Pirates will try to keep the win streak going on Wednesday, Sept. 30, on the road against MidAmerica Nazarene.
