Park University Women's Volleyball expanded its winning streak to three matches after a three-set win over Southwestern College (KS) (25-17, 25-17, 25-16). The Pirates have yet to drop a set in the 2026 Parkville Invitational and weren't close to dropping one in the team's third match of the tournament. Three Pirates totaled seven or more kills, as they dominated the kill total, 35-23. Yesterday, it was
Claire Bingham who had five service aces in the win against The University of St. Mary, and today it was
Visnja Canak who had five of her own to help the Pirates to a straight-sets victory.
Trinity Iverson recorded four blocks in the win.
How it happened
Southwestern held on with Park for the majority of set one, trailing just one point at 16-15, but the Pirates sailed away with a four-point run to push the lead to 20-16 and a five-point run to end the set. The last three points of the set were on two ferocious kills from
Isadora Dias and
Elisa Dalla Pozza, topped off with a
Claire Bingham ace.
The second set started the same as the first set, with Southwestern staying right with the Pirates and even grabbing the lead at 9-8. The Pirates grouped together with three kills over the next four points, one from each of
Kennedy Altic,
Isadora Dias, and
Elisa Dalla Pozza, and forced a Southwestern timeout. The Pirates had just a one-point lead when they went on another four-point run, started by a service ace from
Mila Karadjova, and ending with a kill from
Visnja Canak. After that, the Pirates maintained the lead and closed out another set 25-17.
Southwestern wasn't going down without a fight in set three, and jumped out to a 6-3 lead early. Back-to-back kills from
Kennedy Altic and
Visnja Canak, along with a Southwestern attack error, quickly tied it back up 6-6. However, it was all Pirates from there. An eight-point Pirates run, highlighted by two kills from
Isadora Dias and a service ace from
Visnja Canak handed the momentum to the Pirates' side. After maintaining the lead to 21-15, Park ended it by winning four of the final five points, ending on a exclamation point serivce ace from
Visnja Canak.
The Pirates have yet to drop a single set in the 2026 Parkville Invitational, and they'll look to extend the winning streak to four matches, as a match with Wayland Baptist (TX) is on the Horizon. The match is set for 2 p.m. on August 29.
