The Park University baseball program was in Kansas City, Kan. at Homefield Complex for a doubleheader with Clarke University. The Pirates were not able to get rolling with the bats as they would have hoped and Clarke earned a pair of wins over Park, 5-3 and 4-0.
Despite these being Heart of America Athletic Conference members, these were not considered Heart Conference games, as these were originally scheduled part of a neutral site tournament ahead of the conference season.
Clarke got off to a 2-0 start over Park in the first inning. A walk with the bases loaded helped Park cut down the deficit 2-1 in the bottom of the 1st.
A couple home runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings got Clarke a few more runs to work with, and then a RBI double in the 5th sealed it.
Park rallied well in the 7th inning, starting with a Jan Marrero single and then a sacrifice fly by
AJ Alvarez got Park within two runs, but that's all they were able to get across in the 5-3 game.
Carlos Roses went five innings and struck out six batters.
Michael Uhler did a good job giving Park a chance in relief with two innings pitched with no hits or walks allowed.
In game two, the Pirates got in a hole in the 2nd inning with a Clarke run. The Pride then put up three more runs in the 3rd inning.Â
4-0 would be the final score of the game, as Park only had two hits, but meanwhile had three errors defensively.
