The Park University baseball program was in Fayette, Mo. for a four-game series with Central Methodist University. The Eagles took advantage on their home field and defeated Park in four games, with game three coming down to the 8th inning.
The Pirates went ot 8-11, while the Eagles move to 13-8.
The Pirates fell 11-1 in game one, 9-0 in game two, and 16-6 in game four. The Pirates had three errors to Central Methodist's one error in those three games and the Eagles had 16 more hits than Park in that span as well.
In game three, though the Pirates got out to their 2nd lead of the series with a three-run top of the first. Park benefited from four walks in the first inning, but
Dian Medina brought in three Pirates with a home run to left field.
Carlos Roses went five strong innings and only allowed three earned runs on four strikeouts. In that 5th inning though, The Eagles struck with a four run inning to take the lead on five hits that included a double and a triple.
An immediate response came in the 6th with a
Sam Sisk single that tied the game, 4-4. Each side traded a run in the next two half innings, as Park tied it yet again 5-5 on a wild pitch.Â
Similarly, the Eagles benefited from a wild pitch in the bottom of the 8th, as the Pirates intentionally walked two batters to keep a double-play possible or go to the plate with it, but a hit by pitch ended the game in a walk-off for the Eagles, 6-5.
