The Park University indoor track & field program competed in two meets over the weekend. On Friday the team went to Ames, Iowa for the Iowa State Classic, and also spent time Friday and Saturday in Maryville, Mo. for the Bearcat Invite at Northwest Missouri State. Park brought home three new Park records and
Sam Thomas is the latest Park qualifier to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
Thomas was a great contributor in the 200m with a 1st place finish among NCAA Division I talent and claimed Park's new indoor 200m record at 21.74. He also is Park's new 400m record holder 48.31 for 3rd at the Bearcat Invite, which also qualified him for nationals.
Palmer O'Connor shaved time off his 1,000m record from nationals last year. The sophomore has dominated the event and took 4th at the Iowa State Classic with a 2:26.98. Peters was right next to his teammate in 5th with a 2:28.37. The 1,000m was well represented on the women's side, as
Anna Joyce took 6th with a 3:03.49 in Ames.
Mya Charles had a great meet in Maryville and qualified to the finals of the 60m dash with a new personal record of 7.60, which was the NAIA B standard. She hit the B standard again in the 200m with a 24.99 for 2nd place.
