Park University Women's Soccer went toe-to-toe with one of the top schools in the country. Park, who has struggled this year, forced a 1-1 tie in a match that featured 25 shots combined.
How it Happened
The Ravens were on Park early, forcing up 10 shots in the first half with four landing on goal. Benedictine had the possession early and often, but couldn't get anything past the Pirates' defense for a clean look at the goal. Park had just four shots in the first half, but three of them landed on goal, just one less than #3 Benedictine had.
A quiet first 10 minutes was a true quiet-before-the-storm moment, as Maura Maher untied the match with a Ravens goal in the 57th minute. The Ravens finally found a good look and capitalized, but Park stunned the Ravens just one minute later as
Aryana Rashidi received a beautiful ball from
Lilli Porsch and scored just 70 seconds after Benedictine did.
Park was putting up shots more often than Benedictine at the end, but nothing came close to a goal, and after 90 minutes, Park forced a tie against a top three team in the country.
