9/16/2025 1:32:00 PM

Box Score The Park University women's soccer program played minute by minute with the No. 13 nationally ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers on Saturday in Olathe, Kan., but the Pioneers' last second goal foiled the Pirates, 2-1.

Park falls to 3-2-1 on the season and now are 1-2-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers are now 4-2 and 2-1 of the same. This had the makings for the same result as the 2024 matchup when both teams finished in a draw, of course, going back two years ago, the Pirates did upset a Top 25 Pioneer program in high scoring 4-3 road win in Olathe.

Park trailed once the 24 minute mark was hit, as the Pioneers connected for the first goal of the game.

The half stayed with MidAmerica Nazarene 1-nil at the break.

Even though down in the game, the Pirates had one more shot than the Pioneers at six compared to five for the half. Each team had one corner kick opportunity and the Pioneers had three saves in the first half.

When Park came back for the second half, Patrycia Kozak energized the Pirates with her fourth goal of the season at the 50:47 mark and the assist flew in from Lilli Porsch.

Both teams wanted these conference points and nine shots were fired in the second half by both teams. And again, the same number of corner kicks were awarded in the second half as well for each team at two apiece.

Frankie Williams was playing exceptionally well in the second half with five saves to keep her team neck-and-neck with MidAmerica Nazarene. The Pioneers were able to save an additional three shots in the second half as well.

Going all the way across field though, the goal kick from MidAmerica Nazarene cleared the backline for Park and a racing Thayline Teixeria for MidAmerica Nazarene beat the Pirates to the ball. With a one-on-one look, Teixeria scored the game winning goal at the 89:19 mark, 2-1.

Park will be back on the road on Wednesday, September 17 in Lamoni, Iowa to face Graceland University at 5pm. WATCH
